The plugin connects to a local companion server (@ai.to.design/figma-connector) that the user launches on their own machine via `npx`. It exposes MCP tool endpoints at ws://localhost:3579 so Claude Desktop and other MCP clients can drive Figma design operations (HTML rendering, node editing, component and design-system generation) locally. In Chat mode the plugin calls the user's chosen LLM provider directly with the user's own API key: api.anthropic.com, api.openai.com, generativelanguage.googleapis.com. metrics.ai-to-design.com receives anonymous usage counters only: event name, mode, tool name, ok/error, plugin version, and a count. No identifier of any kind is sent (no user, install, device or session ID), and no design content, HTML, prompts or file data. Users can switch this off in the plugin UI.
