About this plugin
Pastiche is a Figma plugin that transforms paintings into usable UI design systems.Full description:Great painters solved the same problems designers solve today: hierarchy, contrast, balance, atmosphere, and the emotional weight of color. Pastiche makes that knowledge usable.Powered by the National Gallery of Art's Open Data collection, Pastiche analyzes paintings through color clustering, hue separation, saturation weighting, and semantic mapping going far beyond a simple color picker to study how a composition works, not just what colors appear in it.A Vermeer becomes warm golds, deep cobalt blues, and cinematic dark neutrals, structured into a system with real contrast and depth. A Van Gogh becomes saturated, kinetic energy translated into tokens that feel alive. What Pastiche generates:Primitive color scales with full tonal rangesSemantic design tokens with light and dark aliasesSpacing, radius, opacity, and typography variablesIllustration palettes ready for direct recoloring of frames and vectorsExportable JSON and CSS tokensNative Figma variable sets, ready to use immediatelyHow it works:Search the NGA collection or browse featured works. Pastiche analyzes the painting, maps its visual logic to a token architecture, and generates a complete design system variables included. Apply it to your file, export it, or use the recoloring tools to retheme existing components directly.Built with: Figma Plugin API · NGA Open Data · K-means color clustering · Semantic token architecture
